Spend the afternoon in community practicing meditation, asana, and writing for self-inquiry. At first you will learn easy writing techniques to encourage expression and remove blocks of self-judgement. A seated meditation and an all-levels asana practice will follow to clear and focus the mind. We will take time throughout the workshop to play with words and share with the group.
You will come away from this workshop with techniques you can use any time you experience writer’s block with any genre of writing. Or if you want to unravel an idea more fully or investigate a feeling you don’t consciously understand yet.
This workshop is intended to be fun, relaxing and useful on its own. It is also an introduction to Katie’s Authentic Voice Immersion workshop, where we write ourselves deeper into Svadhyaya, (self-study). Katie Hoover is an RYT-500 yoga teacher in Silicon Valley. She teaches yoga to help people actively allow space for their true selves with a focus on compassion, playfulness, alignment, strength and community. She also holds degrees in Biology and English Literature with a concentration in Creative Writing Poetry. She has written two poetry chap books called Idle Worship and Taking the Country Out of the Girl. She is currently working on a book-length collection of poetry inspired by meditation, yoga and sound healing chakra frequencies. Katie is a life-long journal keeper and believes in the healing power of expressing the authentic self through writing, arts, movement and vocation.
