Doris  Palmer

click Doris began practicing yoga in 1993 and studied with Senior Certified Iyengar teacher Ben Thomas for over 15 years and received her teaching certificate in 2004 at the Avalon Art & Yoga Center. She also studied with globally renowned restorative teacher, Judith Lasater at the Iyengar Institute in San Francisco and received her restorative teacher certification. For the past 10 years, she has been studying with Neuromuscular Therapist Joseph Negron to develop an understanding of the musculoskeletal system. Doris tunes into the needs of each student whether it is building strength and flexibility or becoming more self-aware in their own practice. She focuses on alignment, infusing balance and creating space with each asana as she considers most injuries are caused by a misalignment of the skeletal system, an imbalance in the use of the muscular body, or compression in the joints. With over 20 years of teaching experience, Doris guides her students through a deliberate and mindful practice to actively engage core stability muscles and align the skeletal system to live pain-free.
