A life-transforming practice. A yogic breathing workshop with Tom Abrehamson. Saturday, December 14, 2-4pm, $35.
Prana, (or ki” or “chi”), refers to a basic, universal, all-pervading life-force Energy long recognized by Eastern thought, which is now being more fully appreciated and studied by Western science. Yoga practitioners over the centuries have found that by practicing Pranayama, or Yogic Breathing, we can access, link to, (yoke to, i.e. “yoga”) this Energy, and harness and utilize its power. Yogic Breathing is thus a wonderful key to good health, longevity and spiritual advancement, and it is also a superb lead-in to meditation.
This 2-hour workshop provide you with practical, step-by-step explanations about, and practice of, basic Yogic Breathing techniques including the major Pranayama: Kapalabhati, Nadi Shodana, Ujjayi, and other useful practices.
Beginners will get a solid introduction. Intermediates will get concrete, helpful hints that will greatly improve their practice. No yoga experience necessary. Note: you will sit on a chair, yoga cushion or the floor for the practice portions of the workshop.
