I love helping Beginners and Students with specific needs (back care, shoulder flexibility and pregnancy).
My speciality is to work with athletes who would like to integrate yoga into their fitness routine. As a runner, I have experience tailoring a yoga practice to make sure my muscles are flexible and stronger. When athletes do a lot of workouts or running, their muscles get very tight and this is where I can help them during this process.
I’m also interested in working with beginners who would like to build a good foundation. Sometimes, people need one-on-one assistance and I’m here to help them.
Some individuals may find that private yoga sessions are more appealing – even though group yoga classes have grown in popularity over the years. Unlike basic group classes, private sessions are a one on one experience with an instructor. They can be very effective in bringing about improvements to one’s mental and physical health as well as help one achieve personal yoga goals.
Semi-private yoga sessions (two people) are also popular these days helping to cut costs a little while still receiving careful, individualized attention.
Gaining Initial Experience
Beginning yoga students can sometimes feel overwhelmed in typical class settings especially during the first few classes. For beginners, it can seem difficult to keep up with the pace of the class. It can also be challenging because it typically takes practice for personal flexibility to become more fluid. To become more flexible most likely requires some work before it becomes easier and approaching some of the more advanced poses that the rest of the class who have been practicing regularly can already accomplish sometimes can get a new student discouraged. In this instance, to help avoid feeling overwhelmed and uncomfortable – working with a private yoga instructor can facilitate a more effective approach. Private yoga instructors can assist by showing each move personally, immediately help improve form, and overall make it easier to get started.
Focusing on Personal Goals
Private yoga sessions also offer students the ability to focus on personal interests, concerns or goals. Instead of following along with the yoga instructor in a class setting, a private session allows an individual to set specific goals and plans, such as personal goals for flexibility, strength, and meditation. An instructor teaching in a private setting takes the information about the yoga practitioner’s goals and can create a personalized routine based on that personal and specific information. Students have mentioned that the in depth personal attention of the instructor is one of the most rewarding aspects of private sessions.
Working with Health Concerns
Injuries and health concerns can make a normal yoga class more challenging. A yoga instructor teaching several students at one time cannot focus on individual needs as well or ensure that the poses will not further injure or strain a particular person due to their potential past history of injuries.
When health concerns, injuries or chronic limitations of some sort are a potential issue, it is best to consider a private yoga session or a series of sessions (depending on the specific issue). The instructor can work with the problem and help avoid further complications.
Creating a Personalized Schedule
To make the time to practice is a vital element of yoga. A private session can accommodate even the most hectic of schedules. Private sessions can work around personal plans and scheduling conflicts depending on the yoga practitioner’s work and/or social obligations and allow more flexibility for one’s yoga practice.
Developing a Plan for Personal Home Yoga
Practicing yoga at home is often not recommended for beginners until after working with a professional because home practice without any initial instruction can lead to accidental injuries.
A private yoga session makes it possible to create a plan that is appropriate for a safe home yoga practice.
